Obituary of Lorraine Currier

Georgia Lorraine Currier of Granby, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday 8/24/2022. Lorraine was born on February 3, 1931, in Caribou, Maine. She was the eldest of 8 children born to Henry and Louise Cote. Lorraine graduated from High School and went on to gain certified accreditations and aspired to a managing position related to accounting and finance with the Aroostook Trust Company. She was employed for 11 years after graduation until she married Joseph Currier who she met while he was stationed in Caribou with the USAF. Her life was then devoted to her 5 children while travelling across the United States from Maine to Florida to California before a permanent residence in Granby, MA. A true New Englander, Lorraine was enthusiastic and proud of their residence in Newport, VT on the beautiful bluffs of Lake Memphremagog , bordering Canada. Lorraine was very talented as an artist and seamstress and created many beautiful craft items. She was a very active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Granby having taught 1st grade CCD for 20 years and was adorned as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also very involved with the presentation and decorating of the parish throughout the seasons. Lorraine loved to read and cook and had a keen interest in antiques and history. She truly appreciated beautiful things. Lorraine will be missed by her children Diane Janas, James and Pilar Currier, Donna and Mark Halon and Michael and Marianne Currier. She leaves her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Melinda Currier, Chelsea and Mitchell Halon, Emma and Brady Currier and Jake Janas as well as Jake’s children Addison, Evelyn, Julian and Colette. She was predeceased by her son John in 1982 and her husband Joe in 2016 In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to ‘Alzheimer’s Association’ 225 N Michigan Ave. Floor 17. Chicago, IL 60601.
