Obituary of Anna J. Lessing

Chicopee -Anna J. (Krajewski) Lessing, 90, died November 17, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 28, 1932, in Holyoke, MA to Walter and Jenny (Windolowski) Krajewski.

Ann has lived in Chicopee for over 65 years. She was a communicant of St. Anne's Church and formerly a member of Mater Dolorosa Parish in Holyoke for many years. She was a dedicated employee at Winfield Hat Company in Holyoke where she worked for over 40 years. Ann loved to play games, especially Rummy as she would challenge anyone who walked through the door to sit at her kitchen table and play. She also enjoyed completing word searches and loved tag sales, hunting for new treasures. Her devotion to decorate her home for the holidays, especially Christmas would put any department store to shame. Ann will be remembered most of all for her love of taking family photos no matter what the occasion. No one dared to leave any get together without a photo shoot with Ann.

Ann was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Arthur B. Lessing and her siblings, Helen Lavalee and Edward Krajewski She is survived by three sons, Thomas Lessing, and his wife Valerie of Boynton Beach, FL, Daniel Lessing of Davie, FL, Scott Lessing and his wife Lisa of Southampton. She also leaves two grandchildren, Jessica and Aaron Lessing, a sister Jean Thibault, and her husband Robert of Chicopee, as well as several nieces and nephews.

There are no words that could describe the family’s appreciation of the entire staff at Compassus Hospice of Northampton, especially Katie and Janice for not only caring for Ann but developing a very special sincere friendship with her and becoming fierce competitors at the kitchen table during Rummy matches.

The funeral will be held Sat. Nov. 26th at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anne's Church in Chicopee with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley.
