Obituary of Carol Avery

Carol J. (Cavicchi) Avery, 85, peacefully passed away February 27, 2023 at Mason Wright Senior Living in Springfield, MA. She was born on April 19, 1937 in Springfield, MA to Albert and Grace (Pond) Cavicchi. Carol was raised in Agawam, MA and attended Miss Barker’s School where she proudly worked for a time as a teacher’s aide after completing her education. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Roland R. Avery in 2020 after 60 years of marriage. They were a true example of a lifelong partnership built on love. Carol lived in Montgomery, MA for most of her adult life where she spent many happy years as a dedicated wife and mother and enjoyed family vacations on Cape Cod. Upon retirement, Carol and Roland moved to Edgewater FL., enjoying many memorable years together where she loved to spend time with friends, ride her bike, play Bocce and visit Disney World. She was a constant source of love, support and encouragement and will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious smile, sassy spirit and powerful hugs. She touched the lives of everyone she met and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Carol leaves behind her three children, Laura Theriault and husband Leon Theriault of Enfield, CT, Christopher Avery of Bowling Green, MO and Nancy Duffy and husband Gregory Duffy of Chicopee, MA. She also leaves five grandchildren, Daniel Avery, Melissa Tenczar, Kayleen Duffy, Alex Theriault and Jared Duffy, four great grandchildren, her two sisters Barbara Waters and Gayle Dubian as well as her nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held in April for close family and friends to be followed by a Celebration of Life.
