Obituary of Lauren N. Surprenant
Lauren N. Surprenant , 34, passed away peacefully in the arms of her parents while surrounded by their love on October 9, 2023.
Lauren was the best daughter anyone could ask for; she was the most precious gift her parents ever received. Lauren was a beautiful, kind, and gentle young lady with the strength and determination to live life to the fullest. She was one of God’s special angels, she could smile through any challenges she faced.
She was a loving and compassionate woman who treasured her friends and family. Words that best describe Lauren are beautiful, strong, and resilient, with a mischievous sense of humor. She always enjoyed a good knock- knock joke and had a laugh that was contagious! Her favorite song was “Happy Birthday” and she adored celebrating anyone’s birthday.
A few of her favorite activities were reading, watching her favorite TV shows, swimming, biking, kayaking, and taking walks with her friends. Throughout Lauren’s adventurous life (the riskier the better), she loved the wind in her face and the water at her fingertips.
Lauren was a trailblazer and impacted everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She taught people what was possible as a person with a disability by attending Belchertown Public Schools, taking colleges courses at HCC, as well as being a presenter at many conferences held by the Dept of Developmental Services. After completing her education, she worked at Atkins, and volunteered at Dakin Humane Society, Belchertown Senior Center and was an active member in her community.
Her love and memory will long be cherished by her parents, Gary, Linda, and her dog Sadie, as well as her extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. The caregivers that became family along with many dear friends both near and far will hold Lauren's memory close to their hearts.
Lauren's love for life and great strength was seen each and every day by those around her.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 20 from 4-7 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home to join in procession to St. Francis of Assisi for a funeral mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to either All Out Adventures or Baystate Inpatient Palliative Care.
