James Meighan

Obituary of James William Meighan

James “Jim” William Meighan, 55, passed away on October 24, 2023 after a three month battle with unexpected heart failure. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, Jim’s loving heart left a beacon of light for his devoted wife, children and extended family.

After graduating from high school, Jim joined the United States Army where he served for six years. Thereafter, Jim graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Jim was employed by Gulfstream Aerospace for over 25 years as an avionics technician.

Jim’s family was his top priority until he took his last breath. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jennifer, their daughter, Eleanor and their son, Braeden. Jim is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth, sister, Debbie and her husband Mark Westmoreland, brother, David, in-laws, Christine and Stephen Fletcher, sister-in-law, Kate Fletcher and her husband, Carl Libby, and nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth.

Despite his battle lost, Jim came out a hero and stayed strong until the end, surrounded by the love of his family, with whom he was able to spend his last few days. Jim was so proud of his little family and was steadfastly devoted to Jen, his best friend. Ellie and Brady were the lights of Jim’s life, and he will rest easy knowing that he and Jen raised two strong, intelligent and compassionate children.

Jim’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Brigham and Women’s Cardiac ICU, although no words of thanks will ever be enough. Their care and compassion was remarkable.

In lieu of services, and to honor Jim’s character, we ask that you spend extra time with your family, and simply hug them a little tighter. Memorial donations may be made to support Jen, Ellie and Brady at https://gofund.me/e369cf28.
