Obituary of Judith A. Salmond

Judith Ann Salmond, age 77, a lifelong resident of Indian Orchard, MA, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023, after a prolonged illness. She was born on August 21, 1946, to David C. and Mary Stella (Cieciwa) Salmond. Judith was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield, later earning her Bachelor of Science in Education from Westfield State College.

Judith dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a self-employed childcare provider. Beyond her professional endeavors, she found joy in spending time with her family and friends. Judith had a wide range of interests, including stamp collecting, reading, puzzle making, crocheting and she was particularly passionate about quilting. Her creative spirit extended to the holiday season, where she was known for her annual pierogi-making tradition and baking Christmas cookies.

Judith is survived by her brother, Robert W. Salmond and his wife Sandra of Southwick. She will be fondly remembered by her three nephews, Stephen J. Salmond and his wife Darlene of Monson, Robert C. Salmond and his wife Laura of Longmeadow, and Michael P. Salmond and his wife Dawn of Ludlow, along with cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Judith's life will be held at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home on December 4, 2023. Calling will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with service to begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be immediately after service at Saint Aloysius Cemetery in Indian Orchard, MA.
