William Morgan

Obituary of William D. Morgan

Wales – William D “Bill” Morgan, 76, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Donald L and Pearl (Dunham) Morgan, he grew up in Wales and graduated from Springfield Trade School.

He spent most of his career as a self-employed welder/fabricator and a heavy equipment mechanic. He was widely known for his incredible fabricating skills and boundless work ethic. During retirement, until recent months, he ran a very busy lawnmower and small engine repair shop from his garage. Locals knew they would get the most dedicated, honest and fair service from Bill.

Anybody who knew him knew that honesty, hard work and integrity were some of the most important character traits one could have, according to him. His faith and his family were of the utmost importance to him in his life. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for either. He was a long-time, active member of Quaboag Church in Brookfield, where he was also a dedicated member of the “Friday Guys”, maintaining most all church mechanical issues.

Bill will be missed beyond words by all who knew and loved him. He and his beloved Sandy had 57 years of marriage, and he was only on earth for 47 days without her, since her passing in
November. Everyone who knew them was  not surprised that they couldn’t be separated for long, as she was the love of his life. He is also leaving behind his best friend and son, William “Bill” Morgan Jr and his wife, Loisy of Brimfield and his daughter, Tamara Smith and her husband, Dan of Wales; his 6 grandchildren: Stefanie Morgan & husband Joseph, Heather (Morgan) Johnson & husband Dan, Isabella Morgan,  Caleb, Hannah and Sam Smith,  his 3 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Oliver Seggio, and Finley Johnson; his brother-in-law Jack Boone and wife Kathie of Wales; his sister-in-law Cheryl Lucia and her husband Gary of Wales; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N Main Street, from 3:30-7:30 pm. A funeral home service will be held the following morning, January 11 beginning at 9:00 am followed by burial in Wales Cemetery Four.
