Obituary of Lana L. Wood

Belchertown- Lana Lee Wood, 85, formerly of Palmer, passed away February 22, 2024. She was born on January 8, 1939 in Ware to the late Herman and Rose (Nutter) Toepfer. Lana found many ways to enjoyably fill her time. She enjoyed taking bus trips with friends, visiting many destinations and taking many pictures along the way. She found joy in watching the Boston Red Sox, playing BINGO, going for daily walks, and sitting down with a good book. Lana was very proud of her volunteer work at the Baystate Wing Auxiliary Gift Shop and volunteered her time at a number of local establishments. She was also proud of being appointed Floor Ambassador while residing in Christopher Heights, where she would assist new residents settling in. Most importantly, Lana loved supporting her grandsons at their sporting events. She was always their #1 fan.
Besides her parents, Lana was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Wood, and her brothers, Dean, Dale and Lowell. She will be dearly missed by her son, Jeffrey and his wife, Nell; her grandsons, Tyler and Cameron; brother-in-law, Richard and his wife, Jackie Wood; cousin, Shirley and her husband, Jim Schwartz; as well as her nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Christopher Heights, all of whom Lana considered as family, for their kind and compassionate care that was provided to her. A graveside service will be held on March 8, 2024 at 11:00am in Oak Knoll Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lana's memory can be made to the Baystate Wing Hospital Auxiliary.
