Obituary of Hubert M. Costigan

"Hubert M. Costigan, Jr., (Scooby-Doo), 48, of Eames Place died February 14, at the family home in Amherst, where he has lived for the past 13 years. Born in Northampton, August 31, 1958, he was the son of the late Hubert M., Sr., and Lillian (Tidlund) Costigan and was a graduate of Amherst Regional High School. He spent most of his working career as a truck driver for the Coca Cola Company, most recently working out of Greenfield. He also worked briefly for Taylor Davis Landscaping. In his leisure, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and motorcycling. He also had a skill for fixing and building vehicles. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 16 years, Arlene (Rozell) Costigan, his daughters Rebecca and Suzanna, both of Hadley, along with his step daughters, Rayne Reynolds of Easthampton, Ruby Toledo of Amherst, and Ginger Martin of Southampton. His siblings, Ruby Schmid and Jenny Costigan of Easthampton, Amy Kane of Amherst, John Costigan of Old Lyme, CT and Peggy Costigan of Hadley also survive him. Additionally, he leaves his precious grandson, Nevan Matthew Costigan, along with 10 step grandchildren. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends who helped them during Hubert’s illness. They are also grateful to the caregivers at Cooley Dickinson Hospice. The family will be having private services in his memory at their home.
