I am so sorry for your great loss. I've known Dick, "Dicky Doo" which I've called him for the past 7yrs., as a co-worker under our first supervisor Hector, then Anna and now Lori. There were only three of us in our little mail room group, Roger, Dick and me,Dianne. Being the only female with these two jokers you can only imagine what kind of ribbing I took especially from Dicky Doo he surely kept me on my toes. Actually he had a name for me too, Bam Bam, go figure. He will definitely be missed. Dianne

Hello all, I'm William Carpin, Dick's son. I'm sure that wherever he is, your words of praise and comfort are being heard by him, and that he loves all of you immensely for all that you are doing. I should note that -- just before he passed on, while I and my mother were camped out in the hospital -- I knew that his time was coming. I say that because, every time she and I would ride the elevator it would start going absolutely haywire (it was working perfectly fine before). It did this several times, once even leaving us stuck for 10 minutes on the 8th floor of Umass Medical - in the mental health section. It was going so fast that we thought we were going to shoot through the ceiling, and then just stopped, and let us off 2 floors above our intended destination, and started buzzing like hell. Surely his way of ribbing us one last time - he always was a joker. As noted, he worked 2 jobs simultaneously for the past 10 years to give us all a better life. Thanks to his efforts I just recently graduated college and started a career as a software engineer. Without his efforts none of this would be possible, and I thank him every day for it. Dad, we all miss you dearly, and know that you're in heaven looking out for us right now, while at the same time relaxing and having one hell of a time. Thank you all, and God bless. -Will

My heart goes out to all of you. I loved Mr. Carpin. He was such a sweet and kind man and I will never forget the few times we got to spend together. He was so easy to talk to and he would joke around with me a bit which made me feel comfortable in his home. Will, always remember that your father got to see you graduate from college. He was so happy that day and I know that he was and always will be so proud of you. He has seen all that you have accomplished and he will continue to see you strive for the best throughout your life, in his place in Heaven.
