Obituary of Richard M. Shakarian

"Belchertown, Richard M. "Abe" Shakarian, 60, of N. Main St., died Sunday, May 24 at Mary Lane Hospital. Born in Northampton, July 31, 1948, he was the son of Priscilla (LaLiberty) Furioni of Agawam, and the late Harry Shakarian. He was raised in Easthampton, and has lived in Belchertown since 1986. Abe worked as a bilingual teacher for the New England Farmworker's Council for many years. Besides his mother, he is survived by a sister Joyce Belanger of Ludlow and long time friend Eileen Haraty of Ware, his aunt, Jennie McCullough of Belchertown and many other relatives. A time to pay respects to the family will be Thursday, May 28 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., (Rte. 202).
