I worked with John for several years in the 70's at Northampton State Hospital and in later years at the Carson Center in Westfield. John was a great guy, friendly and helpful to everyone. He was good at his work in the mental health profession. People that he worked with had better lives because of him. Thank you John.

I have known John for 24 years...he was a great friend and I will truely miss him...I have reminders of him all around my house..he wall-papered my living room and hall, helped Ray take down several huge trees from our yard..and all the time he spent over just visiting...he used to fix my car, let me use his hot tub, and we would go to lunch alot...he was a great guy, good friend and even better Outreach worker...the world was a better place because of him...and his love for animals was remarkable.

I was fortunate enough to have John around when I was young to help me find cars and to have him change my oil (while I got to sit in his hot tub :) ) I will miss him a lot!

Hi Johnny! Looks like you forgot(?) your Mom's real name & a few people in your obit. (All that morphine & other meds, I guess...!) Remember(?) -- Mom's name is Antoinette O'LEARY, (NOT Szpila--she became Mrs. Michael O'Leary back in 1963). You also missed your two sisters: Helen A. Vanasse of Indian Head, MD & Christine 'NANCY' Ravish of Otter River, MA, plus the extended O'Leary family!, but 'you are' forgiven. We'll miss you forever & will always 'REMEMBER YOU' & all our good times. Love ya lots, 'Nancy'
